Security researcher Safety Detectives have revealed the scam to a China-based server. The review section of Amazon has been affected due to this scam. This increases the visibility of any product and more and more users start buying that product. Whenever a fake review is inserted with a product, its user rating increases and it starts coming into the product top session. Under this scam, the rating of bad products is being sold higher.
Amazon vendors send a list of products to the reviewers. Reviewers then give a 5 rating to these products. By doing this, these products reach the top in the suggestion list. Along with keeping the product to the reviewer, the Amazon company also provides money to do this.
Security researcher has received the data of 1 March 2021. There are about 7 GB data i.e. 13 million records in it. This password is also not protected. This data contains the e-mail address as well as WhatsApp and Telegram numbers of the vendors who are part of this scam.
However, so far no guidelines or guidelines have been given by Amazon to avoid such scams. But if customers pay a little attention and use some tools then they can avoid this scam. These scams can be avoided by using ReviewMeta, Fakespot, The Review Index extension or Web in these tools.
